Open the Pathways to Wellness and Love.

Philanthropy is not only for the rich

As we approach the holidays, many thoughts turn to making gift lists and wearing ourselves out on shopping frenzies. This pre-occupying mantra can wear us out: “What do I have to buy to show my love to my family and friends?”

What if we have other thoughts? Like “Who can I help this season?”

“How can I teach my kids ways to support others with selfless service?”

“What experience do I want to share with my partner, family or give as gifts to others?”

Here are a few suggestions:

Participate as a family in a service project, like our Sock it to ’em Sock Campaign. Bring socks to Energy for Life, our Meetup on Dec. 10 at Beacons,  a networking meeting we both attend. We will distribute the warm socks to the homeless shelters.

Set up a charity fund with your kids to allocate money throughout the years to a cause close to your hearts. Spend some of your holiday dollars to serve others.

Give experiences like museum memberships, outings, lessons. We have a few ideas:

1. Have you ever been to beautiful Westcliffe, CO? Jim and Ruth Sharon are speakers for a Movember celebration Nov. 29-30. Thanks to Karen Loucks Rinedollar for coordinating! Let’s all caravan down there together on Sat. morning Nov. 29 for an exciting getaway after the Thanksgiving celebration.

Stay at the Courtyard Inn B&B, eat delicious food at Sangrita’s, hear talented musician Jake Loggins at Somewhere Saloon plus 2 interactive fun workshops with us. RSVP to Only $200/couple for all of this!!

2. Spend a romantic week with your beloved: June 19-26, 2015 aboard Celebrity ship Solstice for a Soulful Couples Retreat Cruise to Alaska! SAVE the Date and tell us of your interest,

3. Enjoy a couples weekend to celebrate your love and enrich your relationship at the serene Sunrise Ranch, April 24-26, 2015 .

Your ideas?

Enjoy the meaning of the holidays with a sane, healthy and grateful attitude! Be a model for your children and those around you of serving a greater vision than electronics and stuff.

Take good care of yourself!
