Distinguishing Coaching from Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a behavioral science focused on emotional or behavioral concerns and on reducing or eliminating symptoms, especially painful ones. Psychotherapists identify and treat diagnosable conditions.
Coaching is designed to optimize strengths and skills and to support inquiry into proactive, favorable possibilities. Coaching facilitates self-discovery and reliance on inner resources. It is vision and action-oriented.
